The Taphuis Bar

The Taphuis is a historic Cape country bar that is one of the oldest bars in the Western Cape. Both barmen have worked at the hotel for over 40 years, so guests can enjoy a pre-dinner drink listening to all the tales of the different eras of the hotel. The Taphuis is the Lanzerac Hotel’s main bar and it seats 22 guests at the bar counter and 14 guests at tables.

The authentic Cape country bar is open daily and into the evening during summer and winter. The interior is richly decorated with antique yellow wood furniture and has a huge Cape Dutch fireplace as the centrepiece. This fabulous Cape Dutch styled dining area offers a seamless flow and spacious room ideal for long romantic dinners or cosy drinks and small talk around the fire.
